Piece of Cake Catering and Desserts, established in 1979, follows a 3-generation family tradition of restaurateurs and food entrepreneurs. Marilyn DeVault, food designer and founder, first made a cake for her brother's birthday. He was extremely picky and had wonderful taste and loved this cake. That was enough for Piece of Cake to begin its career as the most passionate cake bakery in Portland, Oregon. Contests were run and the bakery set up its first shop in Lake Oswego in 1979.
During the recession years, the fabulous cakes were treated as a centerpiece at parties because they were lovely and delicious.
Through the years our customers have made Piece of Cake a family tradition! It cannot be a birthday without ordering our cakes. We have had doctors mark on their calendars months in advance that their staff not forget their birthdays and it must come from Piece of Cake! We are very appreciative of our wonderful customers. In the past 6 years we have developed special dietary needs cakes. We make vegan, vegan wheat-free, sugar-free, gluten free, soy-free, and our newest formula brownies that have no sugar, no wheat, and no dairy. This is truly a miracle. We tell our new customers that our cake is 1000% better than the last cake they tasted. If you are planning a wedding, birthday or anniversary, you can come in and sample our cakes. It is fun and you can bring in the decision-making friends and family to be a part of the tasting.
