I packed my suitcase, apron, and a cake and went to Vegas to help surprise an unsusspecting bride on her engagement!...With Elvis's help of course :) Thank goodness we found Elvis! I found Spiderman and pretended I was a mannequin. We also met some Chippendales!
This year Piece of Cake was invited to compete on the Cooking Channel's Sugar Showdown. Marilyn and her head decorator Shelby Page flew to Toronto to compete with two other teams from around North America for a substantial prize. Piece of Cake won both rounds! Marilyn flew back to Oregon with a $10,000 check that went straight to her scholarship at PSU.
The highlight of her trip came when Johnny Iuzzini (pastry chef, cookbook author, & TV celebrity) tasted her signature chocolate cake on Sugar Showdown and said, "Mama, you got that right".
Marilyn had the honor of acting in a fun Whoop De Doo children's play last month. Whoop De Doo is based in Kansas, City MO and was here for the TBA Festival. Marilyn provided lots of gluten-free treats for the cast! Marilyn met this fun group when she was touring the country with Donny the Goat raising money and awareness for disadvantaged kids.
